FAQs.

General

- What is tnerit and how does it work?

tnerit is an online rental marketplace, allowing for seamless Borrower and Lender transactions. tnerit users can benefit from both earning, and/or saving money simultaneously. In a nutshell, a Borrower can request an item listed by a Lender for a specified rental price per day and rent duration (minimum of 1 day & maximum of 90 days). Once a Lender accepts a request, both parties agree on a location to pick up/drop off the item. The item is returned by the Borrower to the Lender at the end of the rent and both parties rate each other. It’s that simple!

- Who can sign up?

Anyone 18 years of age and older

- How can I sign up and what’s required?

You can sign up by filling in the requirements below or via your Facebook account.

  • A username
  • Your name (first & last)
  • Your email address
  • A password (minimum of 8 characters)
  • Your location (UAE cities only)
  • Your mobile number (UAE mobile numbers only)
  • Your Emirates ID (2 photos: selfie with the front of your card & the back of your card)

Once you’ve clicked “✓”, your details will be sent for verification, and once they’re verified (within 6 hours of signing up) you’ll be able to start Borrowing and/or Lending. Prior to verification, you’ll only be able to browse items on tnerit.

- How much does it cost to sign up?

Literally nothing, nil-0-zero.

- Where is tnerit available?

We currently operate in Dubai. However, we have plans to expand to all 7 Emirates very soon!

- What do we mean by a Lender and a Borrower?

A Lender is the owner of an item listed on tnerit. A Borrower is the person who rents an item listed by a Lender on tnerit.

- Are there any rental fees?

tnerit charges both the Lender and the Borrower a rental fee:

  • Lender = 7%
  • Borrower = 11%

For how long can I rent items?

Honestly, it depends on the Lender. tnerit allows Lenders to adjust their rent duration to a minimum of 1 day and a maximum of 90 days.

When do rents start and end?

To simplify things, we’ve programmed that all rents start at 12:00am and end on 11:59pm. For example, if you’ve rented an item for tomorrow (for 1 day), the rent starts at 12:00am and ends at 11:59pm the same day.

How do Messages work?

You can start messaging once a Lender accepts the rent request put forward by a Borrower. Our secure messaging service allows you to send seamless messages and voice notes. Messages expire 48 hours after the rent expiry/cancellation, giving you both enough time to communicate if need be!

What does “Only for your eyes” mean in my Profile?

tnerit only displays your username to others (regardless if you’re a Lender or a Borrower). Everything else like your full name, email address, mobile number and Emirates ID are as we say it “Only for your eyes”.

Note: please refer to our Privacy Policy for further details.

How does the rating system work?

Borrowers and Lenders rate one another after the rental period is over on a scale of 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest) stars. If you’re both a Borrower and a Lender, you’ll have 2 different ratings.

Does tnerit offer insurance?

Nope, we don’t.

Forgot my password, what do I do?

Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! Click on “Forgot your password?” in the Log in screen, enter your email address, and we’ll send you a link to reset your password.

How can I contact tnerit?

Click on “Reach Us” and choose to either email us or call us. Yup, it’s that easy!

How can I delete my account?

Reach us and we’ll help you out.

Borrower

How can I rent an item?

Only once you’ve signed up and we’ve verified your details, you can start renting! Note: the “Item Details” section is crucial! It gives you a description of what you’re about to rent, the rent duration (if applicable), rent notice (if applicable) and if discounts are available. The calendar then shows you when the item is available for you. All you’re required to do is select your preferred dates and click “✓”.

  • What then? You’ll have to wait for the Lender to accept your rent request.
  • Note: The Lender has a maximum of 6hrs to accept your rent request, if the Lender doesn’t accept your rent request within 6hrs, your rent request will be automatically cancelled/deleted (we just don’t want to waste your time!).

How and when am I charged for a rent?

  • How? With the credit/debit card you’ve registered on tnerit.
  • When? If the rent start date is less than 48hrs, you’ll be charged once the Lender accepts your rent request. If the rent start date is more than 48hrs, you’ll be charged 48hrs prior to the rent start date.

The photos posted by the Lender for a given item are unclear and I really want to rent it, what do I do?

That shouldn’t be the case but if you still believe so, “Reach us” and we’ll get in touch with the Lender to rectify this issue.

How do cancellations work?

  • You can cancel a rent request for an item by clicking “✘” before the Lender accepts your rent request at no cancellation charge.
  • If you cancel less than 48hrs from the rent start date a 30% cancellation charge will apply, and if you cancel less than 24hrs from the rent start date, a cancellation charge of 40% will apply.

If a Lender cancels a rent less than 48hrs from the rent start date, you’ll be refunded everything you’ve paid and we’ll add 2.5% of what you’ve paid to your tnerit Credit. If a Lender cancels a rent less than 24hrs from the rent start date, you’ll be refunded everything you’ve paid and we’ll add 5% of what you’ve paid to your tnerit Credit.

You cancel Less than 48hrs Less than 24hrs
Cancellation Charge 30% 40%

Lender cancels Less than 48hrs Less than 24hrs
Compensation 2.5% 5%

Note: tnerit rental fee is non-refundable.

What are all those things in “My Rentals”?

  • Upcoming: rents that are yet to start.
  • Active: items you’re currently renting (active rents).
  • Pending: rent request(s) that haven’t been accepted by the Lender yet (hang in there!).
  • You Cancelled: all the rents you’ve cancelled.
  • Lender Cancelled: all the rents the Lender cancelled.
  • Rented: items that you’ve rented in the past.

What happens if I click “Item Received”?

Both the Lender and tnerit get notified that you’ve received the item.

The Lender has declined my rent request, what do I do now?

Don’t panic, there’s probably a valid reason for that. The Lender has her/his own reason(s) for doing so. Try out another Lender!

How do I pick-up and drop-off an item?

You’ll need to discuss the pick-up and drop-off of any item with the Lender via Messages. tnerit does not currently offer a delivery service.

Can I become a Lender?

Of course! All you need to do is go to your Profile and click on “Shift to Lender”. It’s that simple, start earning!

I clicked on many of those lovely pinkish hearts, where can I find them?

Go to your Profile and click on “Favorites”. Stop staring, start renting!

What’s tnerit Credit?

If a Lender cancels on you less than 48 hours from the rent start date, your compensation (in addition to your refund) appears as tnerit Credit. You can use your tnerit Credit for future rents!

Also, if you cancel a rent less than 48 hours from the rent start date, cancellation fees will be deducted from your tnerit Credit, and/or your debit/credit card payment!

Where can I view my previous transactions?

Go to My Rentals and click on “i” from any of the tabs to view your previous transaction. In My Rentals, you’ll be able to view all your rental and cancellation charges.

I still need more time to talk to the Lender. Can I?

That shouldn’t be the case… Reach us and we’ll investigate what went wrong.

Note: Messages expire 48 hours after the rent expiry/cancellation.

What if the item listed by a Lender (description & photos) is different than what the Lender provided?

If the item given by the Lender does not match the description and photos on the listing, you could either decide to keep the item and proceed with the rent, or cancel the rent, by clicking “✘” under the Active tab in My Rentals. If you decide to cancel the rent, you must immediately return the item to the Lender (the same period you meet to collect the item). After cancelling the rent, you should then use the Reach us function on the App, to explain the situation, and the tnerit team will look into it, and provide a complete refund, if applicable. This procedure applies to items that are damaged and/or counterfeit. For further information, refer to tnerit’s terms and conditions.

What happens if the Lender is late in giving the item on the day of rent?

If you agree to proceed with the rent, then the rent should continue as normal and rate the Lender accordingly, after the expiration of the rent. However, if you decide not to proceed with the rent, you can cancel the rent, by clicking “✘” under the Active tab in My Rentals. After cancelling the rent, you must then use the Reach us function on the App, to explain the situation, and the tnerit team will look into it, and provide a complete refund, if applicable.

What happens if I am late or fail to pick up the item from a Lender?

If you are late to pick up the item from a Lender, the Lender could either decide to proceed with the rent or cancel the rent. If you fail to pick up the item after multiple attempts by the Lender to get it touch with you, the Lender would then most likely proceed to cancel the rent. Refunds are not applicable during active rents.

What happens if I damage or lose an item during an active rent?

It is your sole responsibility to comply with and compensate the Lender in case you damage or lose an item during active rent. tnerit is not responsible for any damage or loss of any borrowed item. For further information, refer to tnerit’s terms and conditions.

Can an item listed by a Lender be a counterfeit product?

Although tnerit aims to ensure all listings on the platform are authentic, some counterfeit products will inevitably make their way onto the platform. As such, you are encouraged to use the Reach us function on the App to let us know about the counterfeit product and the username of the user who listed it, and tnerit will act accordingly.

What happens if the Lender is late or fails to pick up the item from me after the end of the rent?

If the Lender is late to pick up the item from you, you should rate the Lender accordingly. If the Lender fails to pick up the item after multiple attempts by you to get it touch, you should then use the Reach us function on the App, to explain the situation.

Lender

How can I list my item?

Well, first your Emirates ID must be verified in order to list an item. Once that’s done (ensure that you’re on Lender Mode), click on “Add Item” or “+”. What’s required?

  • Upload at least 1 photo of your item (maximum of 5 photos)
  • Choose a category and the relevant subcategories that your item falls into
  • Set a name for your item (maximum of 50 characters)
  • Write a description of your item (maximum of 300 characters)
  • Set a Price Per Day (minimum of AED 7.00 & maximum of AED 2,000.00)
  • Select the city where your item is in and if you wish you can pin point an approximate location within that city
  • Review your listing and click “✓”
    • Once you’ve clicked “✓”, your listing will be sent for approval, and once it’s approved (within 6hrs of adding your item), the listing will go live on tnerit. Prior to approval, your item will be under “Listed” in My Stuff but “Pending Approval”.

I’ve tried to add a photo to my approved listing but it’s not live yet, why?

In addition to approving new listings, tnerit also reviews any new photo you’ve uploaded to your existing listing. If approved (within 6hrs of uploading a new photo), your new photo will go live on tnerit. Note: a grey “✓” will be placed on a photo that hasn’t been approved yet and a pink “✓” will be placed on a photo that has been approved.

How do I set a Price Per Day (in AED) for my item?

tnerit recommends that it’s best to price your item (price per day) between 5-8% of the item’s retail price. For example, if you own a bicycle that you’ve purchased for AED 1,500.00 (item retail price), we suggest you price your item (Price Per Day) on tnerit somewhere between AED 75.00 and AED 120.00. That doesn’t mean you must stick to that - it’s entirely up to you. Don’t forget to check out our discount pricing feature for longer duration (7+ days) rentals. Note: the minimum price per day is AED 7.00.

How do I ensure that my item photos are high quality?

As a Lender, this is crucial! Our advice is to put yourself in the Borrowers’ shoes. Hint: if the camera on your smartphone isn’t that great, use a professional camera instead. The more photos you upload (maximum of 5 photos), the higher the chances you attract potential Borrowers! Place your items against a plain white background, that should also help!

What types of items can I list on tnerit?

Anything! As long as it’s legal. We keep on updating our list of categories and subcategories for you, but if you feel we’re a bit slow, then feel free to Reach us and let us know!

Can I decline a rent request?

It’s your item, you own it, and you make the final call. We suggest you update your calendar (available/blocked days) for each item so that Borrowers can stay up to date too!

Note: if you don’t accept a rent request within 6hrs, the rent request will be automatically deleted.

How do cancellations work?

  • You can cancel a rent request from a Borrower for your item by clicking “✘” before accepting it, at no cancellation charge.
  • If you cancel less than 48hrs from the rent start date a 30% cancellation charge will apply, and if you cancel less than 24hrs from the rent start date, a cancellation charge of 40% will apply.
  • You can’t cancel during an active rent.
  • If a Borrower cancels a rent less than 48hrs from the rent start date, we’ll add 2.5% of what you should’ve received as compensation to your Account Balance. If a Borrower cancels a rent less than 24hrs from the rent start date, we’ll add 5% of what you should’ve received as compensation to your Account Balance.

Note: tnerit rental fee is non-refundable.

How do I get paid?

First, ensure that your “Payout” details are filled in correctly (UAE Bank Account only). On the rent expiry day or if a Borrower cancels during an active rent, you’ve got to click on “Item Returned” for us to update your Account Balance. tnerit processes your payout request once you choose to withdraw an amount (in AED) earned from rentals, which is displayed in Withdrawals à Account Balance. The minimum amount you can withdraw is AED 116 ( Note: this includes a transfer fee of AED 16). Here’s an example:

You’ve rented out your barbecue set for the weekend (Friday & Saturday) and earned AED 300. Then, you’ve requested to withdraw AED 300, your payout will be AED 284 (AED 300 - AED 16 = AED 284).

What does Transaction History show me?

As a Lender, you’ll be able to view each payout transferred, all your cancellation charges and all compensations.

What can I do with my Calendar?

We love our Calendar, it’s simple and efficient.  Click on a date (or multiple dates) and there you go, you have the option to make your item available or not and change the Price Per Day. For example:

Sarah conducted some research and found out that Borrowers on tnerit tend to mostly rent items on a Monday, regardless of the price (totally hypothetical). All Sarah must do is click on the dropdown menu in the Calendar to select her listed item and start editing the Price Per Day as well as the availability for any selected date. This feature is commonly used for weekend and seasonal pricing!

What are all those things in My Stuff?

  • Listed: all your items that are pending approval or live on tnerit, regardless if they’re rented out or not. If you click on an item, you’ll be able to edit the Price Per Day & Discount Pricing, Rent Duration, Rent Notice and you can also delete your item.
  • Upcoming: items you’re about to rent out soon (go Lender!).
  • Active: rented out items that are currently with the Borrower (active rents).
  • Pending: items that you are yet to accept rent requests for.
  • You Cancelled: rents that you’ve cancelled.
  • Borrower Cancelled: rents that the Borrower cancelled.
  • Expired: items that you’ve rented out in the past.

Note: You can’t delete an item that you’ve already accepted to be rented out (in “Upcoming”) and/or an item that is currently rented out. You also can’t delete an item in Expired before clicking on Item Returned, we’d like to update your Account Balance first!

What happens if I click “Item Returned”?

The Borrower and tnerit get to know that you’ve received your item back and once you’ve clicked on Item Returned, we’ll update your Earnings and Account Balance. Note: don’t forget to click on Item Returned!

Fancy “Stats”, how can they help me?

Stats allow you to view your progress on tnerit by displaying information that’ll help you monitor and develop your activities! They include: your Earnings (received and expected in addition to yearly details), your items’ Views and your Account Balance.

I still need more time to talk to the Borrower. Can I?

That shouldn’t be the case… Reach us and we’ll investigate what went wrong. Note: Messages expire 48 hours after the rent expiry/cancellation.

What if an item I rented out to a Borrower was stolen?

If after all attempts to communicate with the Borrower fail, the Lender should report the case to the relevant authorities (Police Departments in the Emirate the rent took place*). tnerit is not responsible for any theft of an item rented out by a Lender. For further information, refer to tnerit’s terms and conditions. tnerit would be more than willing to comply with the authorities to assist with any investigation.

What if an item I rented out to a Borrower is either lost and/or damaged during an active rent?

It is the sole responsibility of the Borrower to comply with and compensate the Lender in case an item is damaged and/or lost by the Borrower during an active rent. tnerit is not responsible for any damage and/or loss of an item rented out by a Lender. For further information, refer to tnerit’s terms and conditions.

What happens if the Borrower fails to return the item on time?

Although at times delays are inevitable, the Borrower must adhere to the agreed upon item return time. If the Borrower fails to return the item within the agreed upon time, you should rate the Borrower, accordingly, after the rent expiry.

What happens if the Borrower is late or fails to pick up the item from me?

If the Borrower is late to pick up the item from you, you could either decide to proceed with the rent or cancel the rent. If you decide not to proceed with the rent, you can use the Reach us function on the App to cancel the rent.

If the Borrower fails to pick up the item after multiple attempts by you to get it touch with the Borrower, you should then use the Reach us function on the App to cancel the rent.
